MidtermThis work reflects the suffering & exploitation of African women during slavery, focusing on the unethical medical experiments performed by J. Marion Sims, often called the “Father of Modern Gynecology.” Enslaved Black women were subjected to painful surgical procedures without proper anesthesia or meaningful consent.Certain imagery, such as graphics & eyes expose the human cost behind medical advancements, having us recognize the suffering of Black women whose experiences were historically overlooked.

FinalThis piece explores how cultural heritage is appropriated and rebranded as a trend, often stripped of its original meaning.Saturation was prioritized to display my personal conception of memory. Graphic overlays were used to reference the digital era, where photographs are now the primary method of preserving memory.
